Product Ranges
SEM’s core products are high performance AC synchronous servomotors and asynchronous spindle motors. These motors are used in motion control applications such as machine tools, robotics, printing, packaging and process equipment where accurate control and positioning is required. SEM offers customised designs based on core products as well as a cost effective range of standard motors with stock availability.
Location
SEM is located in Orpington, a suburb of south east London in a new 5,000 sq. m (54,000 sq. ft) custom built factory. SEM is ideally located with quick and easy access to the UK’s major motorways, international and private airports, and channel ports.
Product Development
The experienced and well-equipped design team keeps abreast of new materials and cutting edge technology. This knowledge is used to full advantage in the development of individual custom solutions as well as cost effective servomotors with optimum performance.
Markets
Export business accounts for approximately 93% of output and support facilities are available in key markets. SEM employs bilingual Sales Staff and this has helped SEM to develop a high level of International sales.

The SEM Quality Management System is certified according to BS EN ISO 9001:2008. The quality system requirements are fully implemented and embedded in the culture of the company ensuring SEM’s designs, products and services are delivered to the highest standards.
Manufacturing
The introduction of “lean manufacturing cells” and improved process flows ensures that manufacturing is carried out efficiently using the latest systems and technology. Intensive staff (NVQ) training developing “best practice” techniques focuses on process control methods to consistently improve quality.
